TGA (technical building equipment) includes cables, pipes, heating systems, energy supply systems, sanitary systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems and all information technology.

TGA-Specialist planners take on the technical planning of buildings, taking into account all technical aspects of the construction project.

Colloquially, the terms supply technology, building technology or building services are also often used.

The terms Gebäudetechnische Anlage(GTA) and MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) are also used.

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology is often referred to as HVAC technology. In Switzerland in particular, the abbreviation HVAC technology is also used for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technology.

The corresponding international designation is HVAC for “Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning”.

In the field of sanitary engineering, there are also the abbreviations SHK for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology, HLS for heating, ventilation, sanitary or HKLS or HKSL for heating, air conditioning, ventilation, sanitary.
