3D Scan & Reverse Engineering | Basic

Target group

People who are involved in 3D scanning and reverse engineering.

Prerequisites

Windows knowledge, industry-specific basic knowledge

Learning content

Reverse engineering describes the conversion of point clouds or polygon data into CAD format. Get to know the different strategies for creating CAD models from a scan data set.

Focal points:

  • Which 3D scanner is best suited to my application?
  • Polygon data processing options in the free ZEISS INSPECT software
  • Parametric reconstruction in typical CAD systems
  • Precise reverse engineering via Geomagic Wrap
  • Parametric reverse engineering via Geomagic Design X including data transfer to Autodesk Inventor
  • Which strategy is best suited to my use case?

In practical live sessions, participants will have the opportunity to operate various optical 3D scanners themselves and get to know reverse engineering solutions from 3D Systems.

  • Different parts and components are measured together and an insight into the different RE software packages is provided.
  • It is also possible for participants to bring their own components to the training. (prior agreement requested)
  • However, this is not a specific software training course.
