KTM apprentices: "Ready to Race" with hyperMILL - WESTCAM

KTM is Europe’s largest motorcycle manufacturer based in Mattighofen, Upper Austria. As a premium manufacturer of high-performance vehicles for off-road and street use, the demands on the quality of training are also high. A dual academy, part-time studies and a wide range of further training opportunities underline the fact that an apprenticeship at KTM is just the beginning of a career. A new important building block: the CAM software hyperMILL .

KTM has long used the globally established CAD/CAM software hyperMILLfor the design and construction of its first-class motorcycles. In future, the powerful functions will also be taught as part of apprentice training. We spoke to Cornelia Nelleskamp and Christian Reindl from KTM’s young talent development program about this.

Extensive promotion of young talent at KTM

“Practical and comprehensive training is a top priority at the KTM Group: A KTM apprentice has the opportunity to accompany a product from the planning stage through design to production,”explains Cornelia Nelleskamp.

Due to the advancing digitalization, the demand for qualified young talent in the field of CAD/CAM programming is rising sharply. This is why KTM has been breaking new ground since the beginning of 2021: apprentices are now also being specifically trained in the leading hyperMILLsoftware.

WESTCAM supports with apprentice licenses

Klaus Baumgartner, WESTCAM consultant and sales manager of the St. Florian branch, comments: “At WESTCAM, we naturally very much welcome the promotion of young talent in the CAD/CAM sector. That’s why we also offer apprentice licenses”. WESTCAM CAM expert Rainer Weingärtner provided advice and support during the technical realization and implementation.
