Vault Professional for the environment: SynCraft relies on WESTCAM and Autodesk
SynCraft, based in Tyrol, was founded in 2009 and is committed to resource-conserving and sustainable energy generation. WESTCAM is supporting the wood-fired power plant developer in its current project, the switch from Vault Basic to Vault Professional
The SynCraft concept
Thanks to a specially developed process for generating electricity and heat from solid biomass, SynCraft is flourishing and its workforce is also growing steadily. In the wood-fired power plants that SynCraft builds, electricity and heat are generated from forest wood chips.
The third product is high-quality biochar, which can be used for the production of Terra Preta, as an animal feed additive and as charcoal for barbecues. With an electrical efficiency of 30 percent and a fuel utilization rate of up to 92 percent, SynCraft’s wood-fired power plants are among the most profitable in the entire bioenergy sector.

In 2019, the young Tyrolean company was looking for a partner to help them use and keep the programs Inventor Professional, AutoCAD and Vault up to date. WESTCAM has been providing SynCraft with advice and support for five years now. The recently successfully completed project, the introduction of the Professional version of Vault SynCraft relied on the WESTCAMPDM team.

We wanted a partner who was really familiar with Autodesk products. That’s how we came to WESTCAM and felt well advised right from the start and have had a very good working relationship ever since!
In recent years, the Tyrolean company has grown to around 45 employees and eight permanent designers work with the programs. “We realized that it was time to switch to Vault Professional. Our requirements have outgrown the capabilities of Vault Basic and we are being held back at one point or another by the lack of options, which we now want to change,” says Egger.
The solution – Vault Professional
SynCraft benefits from the switch to Vault Professional in three main ways:
- With the help of Vault Professional, employees who do not design themselves can also access the plans and drawings, regardless of their location. This makes it easier to plan and implement service activities and changes on site.
- Thanks to the growing staff in the design department, a better overview is once again possible thanks to Vault Professional, where the latest version is always displayed and final drafts can be locked for changes.
- The ERP system, which was introduced by SynCraft four years ago, could be linked to Vault Professional so that parts lists etc. are automatically derived from the engineers’ designs and plans.

In WESTCAM, we have found a partner who supports us where we need it and understands our needs well. The collaboration is appreciative and very pleasant on a personal level, which is why we wouldn’t want to do without it!
